HDTMPA is white crystal powder at room temperature, slightly soluble in water, with solubility less than 5%. HDTMPA can inhibit most scale formation such as calcium carbonate, calcium sulfate, barium sulfate and ferric oxide. But in water treatment industry, HDTMPA is mainly used as scale inhibitor for calcium sulfate and barium sulfate.
Among all the organic phosphonic acids, HDTMPA has the best scale inhibition performance for calcium sulfate, and not only the scale inhibition rate is high, the effective time is long, so especially suitable for extrusion treatment in oilfield. HDTMPA can also be used for water treatment in boilers.
